Bespoke Nutrition

We are not all created equal, therefore no 'one-size-fits-all' approach can work for everyone. Holistic nutrition and functional medicine methods ensure that all body systems are evaluated and explored as to how they influence one another. Taking time with every unique client helps pinpoint areas of strength & weakness in health as well as exploring past and present emotional, physical & spiritual influences in life.  All these factors help shape a person, and not two people are the same. One may respond well to one method, while the other may be at a disadvantage. As Dr. James D'Adamo practiced, the founder of the blood type diet and eating right for your blood type, that one man's food can be another man's poison. Therefore, shouldn't bespoke nutrition make a difference?

At Naturalpaths Nutrition different forms of biochemical testing can be implemented, such as DNA testing, DUTCH (dried urine test for comprehensive hormones), OAT (organic acid test), CDSA (comprehensive diagnostic stool analysis) and /or food intolerance panels for suspected sensitivities.

Any of these tests can be joined to your path at any time, yet are not obligatory for creating your protocol unless a more targeted approach is recommended by the practitioner or desired by the client.

How these tests can assist creating a better understanding of what is going on in your body:

  • DNA testing:  This test can help gain a better understanding of what you require from your personal diet, lifestyle & supplemental regime.  Genetic variations can play a significant role in your health and susceptibility to chronic diseases. Key genes for crucial metabolic processes are identified and a more targeted, bespoke approach is adapted to your nutritional plan. Genes involved in key metabolic processes such as insulin resistance, inflammation, bone health, food responsiveness, and  hormone metabolism can be identified. DNA testing can also uncover how to optimize your sports training potential, give insight into the most suitable diet type, and identify what key environmental factors effect risk of disease development.

  • DUTCH (dried urine test for comprehensive hormones):  This test checks on hormone levels and how to body metabolises them. Sex hormones and stress hormones, like cortisol and be measured and mapped to identify fluctuations in their patterns.  A complete overview of hormonal health, function and their breakdown & elimination.

  • CDSA & GI mapping:  Evaluates the microbiome and check for imbalances in particular those that may be causing disease or disrupting a healthy microflora essential for optimal function of digestion and immune system health. Digestive and microbial markers for digestion, microbial imbalances & inflammation are assessed.

  • OAT (organic acids tests):  Assesses the levels of organic compounds made in the body by vital biochemical pathways. Helps assess nutritional deficiencies, overload and toxicity caused by errors in metabolism & may be highly related to many chronic states & conditions.

  • Food intolerance/sensitivity panel:  These are diagnostic tests measuring IgG antibodies to a wide variety of foods which may be elevating your immune responses. Helps to make the proper dietary adjustments to decrease IgG sensitivities.
